The types of headaches that we see in clinic are typically due to problems in the neck. By helping improve these problems, we have helped many headache and migraine sufferers gain relief. Some have got rid of their headaches within a couple of sessions, others have taken a little longer. This all depends on what’s wrong in your case, the severity of your headaches, and how long you’ve had problems for. Once your headaches are better, we can also advise you on how to prevent your headaches from returning.
Restriction of the spinal Joints in the neck, irritation of the nerves that supply the head and face, and muscular tension can all lead to headaches. This happens for a variety of reasons some of which include poor ergonomics, previous injuries, repetitive movements and postures, poor postural control and stress.
These factors can place increased pressure on the neck structures and cause irritation of the local nerves that supply the head and face, leading to a headache. The surrounding muscles can also tighten up as a protective mechanism again resulting in headaches or migraine.
Whilst over-the-counter medicine can help mask the symptoms of a headache or migraine, if you are a chronic sufferer, there may be an underlying cause that needs to be addressed.
