What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic
Chiropractic is based on the knowledge that tension and altered function of your spine and pelvis interferes with the nervous system and the surrounding muscles and ligaments.
This reduces your body’s ability to adapt to the changing demands placed upon it and cope with day to day lifestyle stresses.
When one joint or region of the spine becomes tense and restricted, the other parts of your spine that are moving well simply move more to compensate for this putting extra strain on them, this means that pain can appear after many years, when your body is unable to absorb or compensate for any more stress or tension.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of problems with your nerves, muscles and joints, with specific emphasis on the spine and pelvis. By using their hands they make gentle specific adjustments to the spine and joints to restore joint function and enhance the nervous system function enabling your body to adapt and cope better with the demands placed upon it.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
The most common form of chiropractic treatment is an adjustment or manipulation, which involves the chiropractor using their hands to perform precise, quick, small movements into joints to restore their normal function. You may hear a ‘click’ or a ‘pop’ during the manipulation- this is normal. Our chiropractors will also use a variation of soft tissue techniques within their treatments.
